Following the end of WWII the world entered into an era of uneasy peace with tension rising between the emerging superpowers of the USA and the USSR.

Throughout this period, rivalry between the two superpowers was expressed through military coalitions, weapons development and competitive technological steps.

In Europe the newly formed NATO needed to keep the prying eyes of the Soviet Union away from its technology and strike capability.

British Airfields of the Cold War presents to you four UK Airbases that were at the forefront of NATO during this period.   Developed by Team SDB for FSX and FS9, RAF Alconbury,  RAF Colerne,  RAF Leuchars and RAF Middleton St George represent just some of the many military fields active in turbulent times of the cold war and geographically cover a wide area within the UK.
